About us

DocAesthetics lists aesthetic clinics, laser clinics, hair transplant clinics and cosmetic surgeons in UK cities, with the treatments each one offers.

Choosing who injects your face, lasers your skin or operates on you is not like choosing a hairdresser. In the UK these treatments are offered by a wide range of people, from plastic surgeons and nurse prescribers to practitioners with no medical background at all. DocAesthetics brings together aesthetic clinics, laser hair removal clinics, hair transplant clinics and cosmetic surgeons across UK cities, grouped by treatment, so you can see who does what before you book a consultation.

What is on the site

A list of aesthetic clinics for each city and, where enough clinics qualify, lists for laser hair removal, hair transplants and cosmetic surgery. Inside the aesthetic clinic lists you can narrow the choice to one treatment, such as anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, skin boosters, microneedling or chemical peels, or to clinics where doctors, nurses or dentists give the injections. HydraFacial, fat freezing and laser tattoo removal have pages of their own. Each clinic has a page with its treatments, address, opening hours and contact details.

What we do not do

We are not a clinic and we give no medical advice. We cannot tell you whether a treatment is right for you, what result to expect or whether a price is fair, and we do not book consultations or charge you anything. We do not verify each practitioner’s registration or training ourselves. The section below shows where you can look it up. Whatever you agree to is between you and the clinic.

Checks you can make yourself

If someone says they are a doctor, look them up on the GMC’s medical register. Nurses appear on the NMC register and dentists on the GDC register, and all three can be searched online for free. Anti-wrinkle injections are a prescription-only medicine, so a doctor, dentist, nurse or pharmacist who can prescribe has to assess you in person before they are prescribed.

For cosmetic surgery, the GMC register also shows whether a surgeon is on its specialist register and in which specialty. A hair transplant is surgery too. In England the clinic or hospital that operates should be registered with the Care Quality Commission. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the equivalent regulators are Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales and the RQIA.

Under 18

In England it is against the law to give anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers to anyone under 18 for cosmetic reasons, even with a parent’s consent. A clinic should ask for proof of age, and one that does not is telling you something about how it works.
